Come auction day, there are different tactics you can implement but they will depend on your personality and what you are comfortable doing. However, there are a few things you can’t forget to do:
- Remember to register as a bidder. Let the real estate agent know you are interested and looking to bid. By doing this you make sure that if there are any changes, like the auction being brought forward, you are kept in the loop. The agent will also let the auctioneer know, so he can keep an eye on you and look out for your bids.
- Be confident and keep body language positive. No matter if you decide to sit back and join the auction later in the game or decide to go in as a high-flyer and bid strongly from the beginning, experts say that being confident will work in your favour every time. If you don’t think you can manage it, ask someone else to help.
- Know your limit and stick to it. If you don’t have a limit, you could end up with a much bigger financial commitment than what you were prepared to take on. Don’t get lost in the heat of the moment, stick to your budget.
- Remember to take your ID and be ready to pay a deposit. If you win at auction there will be celebrations, but paperwork to be signed straight away, so be prepared.
