How does your business cover compare?

In 2015, NZI surveyed businesses in New Zealand to question them about their perceived risks to their business and compared it to their actual level of cover. The survey highlights gaps between perceived risk and insurance levels.

The survey found that the top three perceived risks were losing online connectivity, fire, and major accident or death. 81% of trade-based businesses consider fire a risk and 24% consider it the biggest threat.

Fire is seen overall as the greatest risk to business's and not surprisingly is the risk most insured. However, loss of network connectivity is a common threat, yet it remains largely uninsured.

A less common consideration is loss of key personnel, of the business surveyed, 35% saw losing a key employee as a risk yet only 7% have cover for such an event.
